**Comments on the "why" of Poly-on-Maui**

The main purpose of Poly-on-Maui, as I see it, is for any interested poly-friendly person on Maui, no

matter what their

other interests may be (tantra, kink, politics, paganism, spiritualism, wind-surfing,

baseball, poly-fidelity, whatever...), to

network. By "network" I mean become aware of each other;

hopefully people will say some things about themselves,

and over time, get-togethers will happen,

friendships will develop, connections will occur. It's nice to know others who

understand and accept

the paradigm of polyamory.

Poly-on-Maui is meant to help with this networking. It's not really intended for non-poly topics,

discussions, debates--or

worse. I do *not* intend to moderate *anyone*, unless things go wack-o

(admittedly, "wack-o" would, in the end, be my

call). I'm hoping the list will be self-governing and run

smoothly on its own.

I don't have time, energy, skill, or desire to be *the* Poly-on-Maui "person in charge" of coordinating

get-togethers. It's

up to all of us as individuals to suggest, initiate, and co-ordinate. Elon & I plan to

initiate a no-theme, public place get

together (??-perhaps at the food court at Queen Ka'ahumanu

Center-??) when there are a few more people on the list.

But the rest of you need to feel free to jump

in, at any time, with your own ideas for activities and get-togethers.

I have received e-mail from some of you, and to answer a couple of questions: "no"; "no"; and "yes"...

(just kidding...).

But really...: I'm not a workshop leader kind of person, so I have no poly-related

workshops planned; but feel free to lead

one yourself, if you want (and please do!!). Also, Elon and I

didn't get into kink (or BDSM) when we lived in Seattle, and

we don't know any of the persons

mentioned in "your" e-mail. *But*, we are kink-friendly; we are consenting-friendly.

Many poly-people

are also kink-people, so I would think Poly-on-Maui would be appropriate as a networking or

announcement tool for the kink community on Maui.

So, treat Elon and me like you would any other member of Poly-on-Maui, even though we do have the

power to

moderate-your-butt (it's another joke...; no really, Elon & I are pretty laid-back).

Please help in adding more poly-friendly people to the Poly-on-Maui mailing list. Please help spread

the word.
